Tomorrow we're transplanting the arugula, red leaf lettuce, broccoli, and strawberries we've been growing inside. Today we planted more: corn, tomatoes, green beans, jalapenos, anaheim chilis, bell peppers, tomatillos, carrots, summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, asparagus, basil, cilantro, sage, parsley....
also hoping for some pumpkins, watermelon,
and fruit trees! We purchased an apricot tree that should produce this summer, and also plan to get cherry, apple, and pear trees. I would so LOVE to grow avocados & lemons, but we'll have to get those from Nana & Papa when we visit CA!
It's only our second year gardening and I'm ready to move to a farm! I'd love for my family to live on a veggie farm, eating mostly what we grow ourselves. But I have to admit, I'm only the dreamer, Chad is the one who DOES the work! I simply wish and he makes it a reality, oh I love him so much! Maybe we should have a few more kids to help on my fantasy farm... ;)
speaking of, we're expecting a BABY GIRL this summer!!!

Chad gave the kids & friends rides in the Polaris (not ours, oh how we wish) after the work was done. Then we went for a ride up through the canyons in the hills behind our house. It was pretty freezing, but awesome fun, and sooooo nice to see all the green and signs of life. We came across a flock (or herd?) of deer and I didn't have my camera!
I do plan to get my hands dirty myself, soon. Planting day, tomorrow yay!
I really love the drastic weather changes here in Utah. Winter can be hard but it's worth the wait when spring finally arrives and it feels like a new life. Simply being outside & feeling the sun again is such a JOY!
Happy Spring!!!

OMG I feel so HAPPY reading your post! Geoff and I have our best garden yet this year. Strawberries, apple tree, chiles, rosemary, meyer lemons, romaine, garlic, other stuff. The weather is rocking! Just knocked wood. We have a huge compost pile that we are replacing the sand with. Our neighborhood (and prob 50% of SF) was built on sand. Not too conducive to gardening.
Hooray! So excited for this new post! How fun to have your own garden! Amazing to see it all grow and then enjoy it! What a fun family activity!
Congratulations on your baby girl! I can't wait to see pics of your new addition this summer! Hope you are feeling well!
Yeah, welcome back to the blog world, we have missed you! Congratulations on the baby girl! I cant wait to see pictures of the finished veg. garden. So fun for you all as a family, and how I would love to taste them all!
I'm so glad to read a new post! I miss reading your writing. I'm a little jealous of your growing garden. I am way to lazy so far to actually start one myself. I so love the idea of going out to my yard to get something fresh for dinner. This is one project that I don't think I could talk Justin into doing for/with me. I think he would see right through me saying " I'll totally help"!
More picture please. I know there has been more going on out in Utah!
glad to see I haven't missed much, LOL. I've been missing in the blog world too! I'm so jealous of your garden! But we need a backyard first, LOL.
Congrats on the baby and backyard garden!! How exciting and fun with both-- I'm so happy for you!
