st. patrick's day memories

For the Armes kids, St. Patrick's Day meant chasing leprechauns in the backyard and Darby O' Gill and the Little People. My kids will remember Irish Soda Bread...and the little people.
And their mom making them sing Danny Boy to some sad guitar-strumming sounds. :)

Irish Soda Bread
3 cups flour
1 Tbls. baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Grease a 9x5 in. loaf pan
Combine dry ingredients. Blend egg & buttermilk together, and add to dry mix.
Stir just until moistened. Stir in butter and pour into pan.
Bake 65-70 minutes. Cool on wire rack, wrap and foil overnight for best flavor.

I love this bread with butter and jam.

Also on the menu at our house: corned beef with carrots and cabbage
Irish potatoes
shamrock sugar cookies

Please share any Irish recipes you love on this holiday.
Have a LUCKY one!

Oh, how awesome!

Oh, p.s. Darby O'Gill and the Little People is being shown at the Orem Library on St. Patricks - 7pm :)

...blankets, PJ's and pillows are welcome!

Happy St. Pattys Day! Boy you sure do have a very diverse cultural background. How cool! And by the way, I'll pass on the corned beef!

I don't know what Darby O'Gill and the Little People is.

It's a Disney movie that was made in, I think the 60's.
